Lavender v. Skilled Healthcare - Updates

On July 6, 2010, the jury returned a verdict in excess of $650 million dollars in phase I of the Lavender v. Skilled Healthcare trial.

On July 15, 2010, the jury will begin hearing evidence on phase II, the punitive damage phase.

The injunctive phase, which is being tried to the Court, is ongoing and will also resume on July 15, 2010.


July 15, 2010 UPDATE:    On July 15, 2010, the parties entered into an agreement to stay the proceedings so that a mediation could be held before Judge Weinstein of JAMS in an attempt to achieve a global settlement.  If a settlement is not reached the trial will continue August 9, 2010 in Humboldt County Superior Court.
